Baseball Personality Throws Prostate Talk

Prostate cancer, a stealthy and dangerous killer, is the second most common cancer and a leading cause of death for American men, according to the American Cancer Society. In fact, one out of every six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.

Greenwich Hospital will team up "Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure" charity foundation to raise awareness in the battle against prostate cancer, with an education and screening program Thursday, Sept. 15, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the hospital, 5 Perryridge Road in Greenwich. The event will include PSA screenings (a simple blood test) and digital exams performed by Greenwich Hospital board certified urologists

Ed Randall is a longtime host of the radio program Ed Randall's Talking Baseball Sunday mornings on WFAN and Remember When, a baseball nostalgia show Saturday mornings on Sirius Channel 209 and XM 89. He is also the post-game analyst for the New York Yankees' commercial telecasts on WWOR-TV, Channel 9. Randall, a prostate cancer survivor, will serve as master of ceremonies for the evening.

As part of the night's activities Randall will host a live, private presentation of Talking Baseball at the Noble Conference Center, from 6:30-8 p.m., featuring a panel of former major leaguers including Ralph Branca, Lee Mazzilli and Dave Fleming. They will talk about their careers and baseball experiences, and the current Major League season.
