Barcelona's Chef Teaches Foodies to Cook a Book

With six restaurants under their belt, it wouldn't be a surprise to learn that the boys from Barcelona could teach you how to cook almost anything Spanish...but a book? Yes and no. Last year, the owners published The Barcelona Cookbook, A Celebration of Food, Wine, and Life. As a companion and study guide of sorts, they've instituted the "Cook the Book" series of classes at the restaurant's Norwalk location that examine the recipes and demonstrate the methods described in their cookbook.

On Tuesday, April 20, the class will focus on charcuteria and cheese while on May 4, the topic will be summer soups and ceviches. For $25, students get an inside look at preparation of spanish classics as created by head chef Happy Hatab. The fee also includes a generous tasting of all the dishes described and a cocktail. Gratuity, tax and additional beverages are extra. The classes contain historical and cultural anecdotes along with recipe guidance, and participants are offered the book at a discounted price following the class.
