“My husband has been in this business in one form or another for 21 years,” says Seham. “This is the first time he’s opened his own store. He has a very good eye. And we’ve been very careful with the pieces we choose. We’re the only retailer in Connecticut selling these lines, 95 percent of what we carry; you would have to leave Connecticut to find.”

Seham’s claims are anything but hyperbolic. You would have to travel to Manhattan at least to find pieces that rival the style and construction you find at Westport’s 4@1 boutique. Sunlight, a Parisian design house specializing in women’s fashions, is a particular standout in 4@1’s collection. Edgy but wearable, Sunlight’s designs beg to be worn just about everywhere.
