Trio Takes on Broadway

Award-winning Broadway stars, Liz Callaway, Mary Testa and Jason Graae, pool their personality, poise and terrific voices for their show, "Give My Regards To," at the Edgerton Center, Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. Kids know Callaway as the musical voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s "Aladdin and the King of Thieves" and "The Return of Jafar." But her real claim to fame has been on Broadway, starting with her debut in Stephen Sondheim’s "Merrily We Roll Along." She also played Grizabella in "Cats" for five years and starred in the original casts of "Miss Saigon," "The Three Musketeers," and "The Look of Love." In his review of Callaway's 2009 CD "Passage of Time," John Hoglund of Cabaret Scenes said, "As always, Callaway has her distinct voice with minimal frills and each phrase brimming with unadorned honesty."

Mary Testa, Tony nominated for her role in Broadway's "42nd Street," also appeared in the revival of "On the Town," for which she won an Obie Award. She's been recognized with many other awards (Drama Desk, Drama League) but, memorably, The Village Voice's David Finkle wrote about her, "The great Mary Testa can do anything she sets her mind to on a Broadway or off-Broadway stage."

The third member of this polished triumverate is Jason Graae, who's garnered raves in "A Grand Night For Singing", "Falsettos", "Stardust" and "Snoopy!" as well as for his cabaret act. The NY Times gave him its own ovation, saying, "Nowadays, probably no other performer could infuse (a song) with the manic mischief that Jason Graae, a frisky clown with a real tenor, pumped into it..." Come hear these three Broadway vets pull out all the stops on classic show songs and some especially delicious seasonal treats. Tickets are $15 and $20.
