If your self-diagnosis is antiques mania, your cure arrives on March 5 and 6, with the opening of the 44th Annual Darien Antiques Show, at The First Congregational Church of Darien. This much-anticipated marketplace features 37 notable antiques dealers from the Northeast, each bringing a healthy selection of some surprisingly affordable treasures. Among the rare wares to explore at the show are American and Continental furniture, fine art in diverse media on canvas, paper and cloth, Georgian silver, antique and estate jewelry, decorative ceramics, and antique glass of many different styles and price. Pictured are Susan Barr of Fairfield's exceptional set of English copper measures, c. 1880, which will be also be on hand.

During both show days, Saturday and Sunday, appraiser Christine Downing sets up shop, offering  complimentary "road-show" style appraisals of family heirlooms brought to the show by visitors. Downing owns C. Downing Auctions in Norwalk. She has been a featured appraiser on the HGTV hit television show "Cash in the Attic."

Offering delicious sustenance to power a second -- or third -- perusal of the show's antiques, is a tearoom with scrumptious selections of homemade lunch entrees and snacks for sale.
