In Greenwich, where the median house price is over the million mark, there are many high walls with expansive and expensive gardens behind them. The Garden Education Center of Greenwich selects six of these spectacular, singular gardens for their special tour on June 10, "Grandiflora: Green with Envy." Some have waterfront views of Greenwich Point and Long Island Sound. All are beautiful settings which feature ornamental rock gardens, waterfalls, picturesque gazebos, columned pergolas, terraced gardens, and sweeping lawns. Stroll by deep perennial borders, note the lavish uses of ornamental grasses, koi ponds, and stately specimen trees. As the Garden Education Center puts it, "It is a unique opportunity to see and experience some of the finest landscapes in our town." This tour draws people from all over and yes, you might feel a twinge or two of envy. But you'll also be inspired. The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets start at $75.
