Tom Tom Club Tears It Up

In the 1970s, singer-songwriter-artist David Byrne, joined up with husband and wife musicians, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, to create the ground-breaking, New Wave band, "Talking Heads." Until the early 90s, they pumped out eclectic hits with a sound that straddled punk, funk and pop. Adding to their drawing power were live shows that crossed into performance art. By the 1990s, the band had run its course. But, Frantz and Weymouth's spinoff band, The Tom Tom Club, which had frequently opened for Talking Heads, stepped front and center. Like Talking Heads, its music is literate, avant-garde and visionary. Now this up-tempo, sexy band comes to town for two nights to perform at Fairfield Theatre Company, with Frantz and Weymouth leading the way, accompanied by Fuzz tearing it up on guitar and Mystic Bowie on vocals. Don't miss the chance to ride their next wave. Performances take place September 21 and 22. Tickets are $42. For more information, visit FTC's website.
