The event will be held in the Auditorium at The Osborn, 101 Theall Road in Rye, on Friday, Oct. 2, from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
The expert panelists will provide an overview of both surgical and non-surgical treatment approaches to this common lower back ailment that affects millions of people, particularly among older adults.
The topic was inspired by the Wellness Committee, an active group of residents at Sterling Park, the Independent Living community at The Osborn. The symposium will be moderated by HSS Rheumatologist Dr. C. Ronald MacKenzie, who is also a Board Member of The Osborn.
The panelists include: Dr. Andrew Sama, HSS Orthopedic Surgeon, who will speak about surgical and non-surgical treatment of spinal stenosis; Dr. Eileen Landin, Director of Rehabilitation at The Osborn, who will describe the role of physical therapy in managing this issue; and Dr. Charis Meng, HSS Rheumatologist, who will explain the role of acupuncture, a complementary therapy, in treating low back pain.
The event will be held in the Auditorium at The Osborn, 101 Theall Road in Rye. It is free and open to the public. Those who are unable to attend can view the discussion on Rye TV. For information see the attached PDF or visit www.theosborn.org/events to RSVP.
