Summer Farmers Markets Bring Buying Power To Norwalk Residents

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk shoppers can buy locally grown fruits and vegetables at farmers markets in various neighborhoods throughout the month of July.

Summer farmers markets will bring color, taste and buying power to Norwalk residents.

The markets will accept assistance programs, such as WIC and SNAP, and several also will offer double-value and senior coupons.

"Several of Norwalk's farmers markets this year offer two-for-one buying power, to those receiving SNAP, WIC and senior coupons," said Market Manager Lyn Detroy in a press release. "We're very excited that we can offer such great produce to everyone."

The Church of the Good Shepherd and Norwalk Community College will have markets every Tuesday. The Norwalk Health Department, Broad River, Norwalk Community Health Center and Rainbow Plaza all host farmers markets each Wednesday.

Additional farmers markets will be Thursdays at St. Paul's on the Green, Fridays Rowayton's Pinkney Park and Saturdays at the First Congregational Church of Norwalk.
