Skaters Sharpen Up for Bridgeport

No special effects necessary for these skating superstars, who make mind-boggling moves without the help of smoke and mirrors. They jump, spin, spiral, rotate and pull off moves on skates that seem barely possible and it all happens in one special performance at The Arena at Harbor Yard on April 9, in Smucker's Stars on Ice. Featured are Olympic Gold Medalist Evan Lysacek, Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen, four-time World Champion Kurt Browning, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Ekaterina Gordeeva, and more stars, who show off the artistry and skill that made them champion athletes and performers. 2011 is Stars on Ice's 25th season, having already dazzled skating fans in more than 1,300 performances. It remains the only figure skating production with stars of its caliber.

The show's producer and founder is beloved champion skater and TV commentator Scott Hamilton, who has been involved with Stars on Ice since its inception, and performed with it for 15 years until he retired in 2001. A multi-medalist, Hamilton won a Gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics and in 1990, was inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Special Olympics International.

About Stars on Ice, Hamilton says, "Back in 1986, we wanted to create a show that was all about skating. We believed our fans would appreciate sophisticated skating, cutting-edge costumes and challenging choreography." They did -- and you will too. Tickets are $26-$136.
