Sister Tracks the Magi and Laughs

Like sugar plums dancing in our heads, childhood memories seem to pop up during the holidays. For lots of people, the hilarious show, "Sister's Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of the Magi's Gold," playing at the Shubert Theater from Dec. 3-5, will bring a special set out of storage. Created by the author of "Late Nite Catechism," this holiday mystery extravaganza, subtitled, "Forensic Files goes to Bethlehem," has masterful character, Sister, played by Colleen Moore, looking into some big questions. Fearless, as usual, she tackles a mystery that has intrigued historians for centuries, whatever happened to the Magi's gold? ("We know that Mary used the frankincense and myrrh as a sort of potpourri - they were in a barn after all," Sister says.) Retelling the story of the nativity, as only Sister can, this sidesplitting holiday production provides not just laughs, but for some, a nostalgic link to the past. Employing her own scientific tools, naturally, Sister is assisted by a local choir as well as a gaggle of audience members. Then, in her inimitable way, she creates a living nativity unlike any other. Celebrate the holidays with Sister and have some laughs as she sets everyone straight on Christmas. Performances take place Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and  8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $28-$35. For more information, visit the theater's website.
