Sing a long with The Sound of Music

The hills are alive with the sound of ...movie karaoke? Yes! Stepping Stones Museum screens a version of the classic film "The Sound of Music," starring Jullie Andrews, with subtitles so the audience can sing along. Dress as your favorite character and join in craft activities planned before the movie's start. Sing-a-long "Sound of Music" has become a world-wide phenom with over 10,000 performances in nine countries.

Here's how the event works: a sing-a-long host leads the audience in a vocal warm-up and shows them  their complimentary "magic moments pack." It has props to be used at strategic points throughout the film. Also planned is a fancy-dress competition when those in costume come onto the stage to show off their inspired couture creation. Kind of a jump-off from the movie, when Maria makes play clothes from curtains.  (Previous entries have included: nuns, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, a lonely goatherd, a man in a gold lycra catsuit (Ray a Drop of Golden Sun!), even a gazebo!!) The rolllicking, slightly daft fun begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20. For more information visit the museum's website. Yodelayheehoo!
