Show Mom Love with Shrubs

A profusion of plants, herbs and garden gifts are the bounty at the festive Friends of Cranbury Park Plant sale.  Perfectly timed to roll out the day before Mother's Day, May 8, stop by to pick up gifts for mom and support Cranbury Park. Proceeds from the sale help keep its trails, meadows and the elegant Gallaher Mansion greener, safer and available for all of us. For green thumbs-- and the rest of us -- this year’s sale is twice as big as before, with more plants and raffle prizes. Assorted perennials have been given buyer-friendly categories: longest blooming, old favorites, shrubs and trees, grasses, rare and unusual varieties, grouped for shade, partial shade and sunny locations.Also available are: a large selection of heirloom cuttings and plant divisions from vintage local gardens; colorful annuals (new this year!); vegetables and herbs, including heirloom tomatoes, and lovely hanging baskets and planted containers. There is also an assortment of garden books.Buy a raffle ticket to help the park and you could be the lucky winner of a Weber Go-Anywhere gas grill from Hocon Gas, gift certificates from Earth Garden Flowers, Oliver Nursery, Stew Leonard’s , White Flower Farm, a specimen plant from Young’s Nursery and a complimentary property consultation from Jim McLoughlin Landscaping, LLC. Additional donations of beautiful specimen landscape plants and merchandise are for sale from Augie’s Landscaping and Young’s Nursery. And you can also pick up some pointers from professional horticulturalists and landscapers, while you sample the sale's breakfast and lunch stand, featuring organic coffees from Sun Coffee Roasters, an exciting new, local firm.The plant sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday May 8, rain or shine in Cranbury Park’s covered pavilion.
