"Riverdance" blends original Irish music and the country's traditional dances into a highly-charged, toe-tapping, mesmerizing performance. Coming to Stamford's Palace Theater on March 9, "Riverdance" has captivated world-wide audiences since its start in 1995 at Dublin's Point Theatre. Its powerful themes and dance precision have made it a unique entertainment that merges theater, dance, music and Irish history. How much of a phenomenon is "Riverdance?" During its 16 year history, 22 million people in 40 countries across four continents have seen it performed in person. And factor in its global television audience means adding another two billion people as fans.
The pull of "Riverdance" is in its magnetic performers who infuse the show's choreography with their tremendous energy and passion. In one highly-charged sequence, the dancers challenge each other in a dance-off, one upping each other to greater and greater feats of tapping skill.
