The first meeting will be July 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Norwalk Public Library in the Computer Lab.

Author and editor Leslie Kerr, Norwalk Library’s Author-in-Residence, will be the group’s facilitator.

One session per month will be devoted to class discussion about the writing process. Writers can then elect to post their work online for critiquing, before the second monthly meeting.

Throughout the year, the Guild will offer special programs and panel discussions featuring regional authors, editors and agents.

The Guild also will host an annual conference beginning in 2017.

The Norwalk Writers Guild is sponsored by the Norwalk Public Library.

Kerr’s latest book, "Harriet Quimby: Flying Fair Lady," tells the remarkable story of Quimby’s groundbreaking work in aviation, photojournalism, fashion design, script writing, and advertising. As a celebrity journalist in New York, she was also a mouthpiece for women, minorities, and social justice issues.

In addition to being a published writer and editor for newspapers, magazines, and trade journals nationwide, Kerr has taught at the elementary, secondary, and college levels for over 30 years. She is the owner of LKB Associates, which offers editorial services to individuals and organizations. Most recently, she has taught a writing course at Norwalk Community College for the Lifetime Learner’s Program, and is well-known to Norwalk Library patrons for leading the “Resolved to Write” writing workshop since 2014.
