The department, and the Norwalk Public Library, are co-hosting a five-week “Healthy Resolutions” program that will help you stick to that diet, eat better, and exercise more, among other things.
It will be held on Wednesdays, from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. starting Jan. 6, in the library’s main auditorium.
Each week, this program will focus on a different healthy resolution and the necessary skills to achieve your goal. Each session builds upon the previous one and includes thought-provoking videos, group discussion and support, giveaways, and the skill-building techniques you need to kick start a healthier 2016.
Participants who attend all five sessions get the chance to win prizes. Registration is required.
The schedule is:
- Week 1 (Jan. 6): Goal setting and nutrition. Learn how to set realistic goals, no matter what resolutions you’ve made.
- Week 2 (Jan. 13): Asking for Help, Reducing Stress, and Learning Sugar Shockers. Learn how to reduce stress and stay positive, two keys to good health and success with any resolution.
- Week 3 (Jan. 20): Get Active and Track Your Progress. Being active doesn’t require an expensive gym membership or an intense workout routine. Learn ways to be physically active every day, while exploring the concept of calories in versus calories out.
- Week 4 (Jan. 27): Take Charge of Your Healthcare, Understanding Life’s Simple 7. Any plan for a healthier, happier year should involve engaging and understanding the health care system.
- Week 5 (Feb. 3): Maintain Healthy Behaviors. Build skills to overcome possible barriers or setbacks and learn how to stay motivated for long-term success.
