This program is for children ages 10-12. He will begin with a brief discussion of literary nonsense – the use of language to convey, manipulate and ultimately to undermine meaning. Participants will then read, listen and discuss two of Carroll’s finest examples of this genre: The Mad Tea Party from “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and the poem "Jabberwocky,” as explained by Humpty Dumpty, in “Through the Looking Glass.”
