The agency also is conducting its annual "Backpack & School Supply Drive," which benefits children in some of Norwalk’s housing complexes. This year, the drive will benefit the children who live at Roodner Court and Washington Village.
Donations of backpacks and school supplies can be dropped off at three Community Partners: First County Bank, 3001 Summer St., Stamford; First Niagara Bank, 1042 Hope St., Stamford; and HEI Hotel & Resorts, Merritt 7 Building Suite 101, Norwalk.
The Community Prevention Task Force members and volunteers assemble the backpacks and fill them with school supplies.
The backpacks will be distributed during the "Family Day" event. The day consist of a free barbecue, beverages, ice cream, music provided by a disc jockey, face painting, balloon sculpting and other free events.
The Roodner Court event will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, and the Washington Village event will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21.
