Monster Trucks Roar in to Bridgeport

Even their handles are scary-sounding -- Crushstation, Air Force Afterburner and Thrasher. They're muscle bound monster trucks, raring to rumble and if you're someone who thrills to the sound of roaring engines, grinding gears and daredevil flying feats, head to the Arena at Harbor Yard March 11-13 for "Monster Jam."That's where the aforementioned bruisers and other mega mobiles, including Martial Law, Grave Digger®, and El Toro Loco® will be tearing it up with tricks, obstacle courses, races and stunts. And these are behemoth buggies! Standing about 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide, monster trucks are massive, custom designed to ride above 66-inch-tall tires. They weigh in at about 10,000 pounds. They're also designed to operate in high-powered bursts of speed, and generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower. Not only can they reach speeds of up to 100 miles an hour, they fly, covering up to125 to 130 feet (think 14 cars side by side) and are capable of lifting off up to 35 feet in the air. They'll amaze and intimidate (in a fun kind of way.) So, hit the gas pedal and steer your way to Harbor Yard for "Monster Jam," a gravity-defying, gear-grinding super high speed event.  Tickets are $10.25-$35.25. On Saturday and Sunday, in addition to the show, there are "Pit Parties," offering meet-and-greets with truck drivers and a chance to view the trucks up close. For more information, visit the Arena's website.
