“It’s like the air around you comes alive in flittering splashes of brilliant blue, orange, yellow and red,” said Dave Sigworth, aquarium spokesman. “Best of all, some of these gorgeous animals may even land on you. That’s a thrilling experience, for kids and adults, and a great photo opportunity so have your camera at the ready.”
Flutter Zone features hundreds of tropical butterflies flying free among aquarium guests. Visitors can also watch the process of metamorphosis in a special section featuring chysalises.
The IMAX film "Flight of the Butterflies" plays daily at 3 and 5 p.m. at the aquarium and will remain until after Labor Day. The aquarium's six-story screen is the largest IMAX theater in the state.
