“Guests can stand next to the whale to get a real sense of its size,” said Tom Frankie, the aquarium’s exhibits manager. “Have your phone ready too because it’s a great selfie – you and a whale.”

The 45-foot inflatable is in the aquarium's central Newman's Own Hall during "Celebrate Whales" week and shows the scale of the whale's internal organs.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary modeled the inflatable after Salt, a famous humpback found off New England that has been studied more than any other individual whale.

The aquarium's IMAX theater also will play the movie "Humpback Whales:" at 11 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m. daily. There will be no shows Jan. 31.
