Kids Catch Farmin' Fever

Farmin' Fever is an afternoon of entertainment kids will want to catch at The Beardsley Zoo. The zoo partners with the Fairfield County Farm Bureau on May 29 to teach them about farm animals and farming, something that might seem a little foreign to Fairfield County kids. Entertainer Chris Rowlands adds music to the educational mix and encourages kids to join in on songs he's written like "Cud Chewing," a tribute to cows. Rowlands told ReminderNews that explaining nature to kids is his passion. “My background was science and natural history,” he said. “This is what I have always wanted to do.” Rowlands has received national recognition for his agricultural education program.. The Association of Fairs and Festivals considered it the best in the country. When he is not performing educational programs, Rowlands works as a naturalist for the National Audubon Society, teaching natural history. Farmin' Fever takes place from noon to 3 p.m. and is free with zoo admission of $9-$11. For more information, visit The Beardsley Zoo website.
