Holiday Train Show Pulls In

This year, postpone the visit to Santa and instead, bundle your kids off to Wilton Historical Society's annual holiday train show. As in prior years, a cadre of the Society's knowledgeable model train afficionados has created an exhibit with 12 different layouts. Running over intricate and detailed model train arrangements, this Great Trains exhibit features many makes, models and gauges, from O-gauge sets, including the popular Thomas the Tank Engine and friends, to a 1920’s-style G-gauge track. Also on view are HO, S, and even Z gauge sets. New this year is the outdoor G-gauge track display with whistling trains welcoming visitors to the front door.

Three new trains, recently donated to the Society, have been added to the show, each with its own layout. The model trains fly around curves, chug past familiar and scenic landscapes (the Alps, for instance) and mesmerize all. The show runs from Dec. 4 through Jan. 16.

Also on view in addition to trains, are the Society's holiday toy collection which includes early 20th century dolls and miniatures, die cast sleighs, wagons cars and stuffed animals.

The Society's hours are Tuesdays – Thursdays from 10 a. m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. A donation of $5 for adults is suggested. For more information, visit the Historical Society's website.
