Cousteau Plans 31-Day Undersea Stay After Stop At Norwalk Aquarium

NORWALK, Conn. -- Fabien Cousteau will deliver a special lecture at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk detailing his latest venture to stay underwater for 31 straight days.

The event featuring Fabien Cousteau, grandson of SCUBA inventor Jacques Cousteau, will be at 8 p.m. Feb. 6.

"Growing up on the decks of his grandfather’s research vessels, Fabien Cousteau was destined to work to protect our planet’s immense and endangered marine habitats," a press release said. "He champions the family legacy as a third-generation ocean explorer and filmmaker."

This spring, Fabien Cousteau will lead an exploration named Mission 31 that intends to spend 31 days in Aquarius, an undersea marine habitat off the Florida Keys that is the only lab in the world of its kind.

"This endeavor will break new ground in ocean exploration and also coincide with the 50th anniversary of his grandfather’s 30-day experiment living in an underwater lab beneath the Red Sea," the press release said.

Tickets for the Fabien Cousteau lecture are $30 or $25 for aquarium members. For tickets, visit the Maritime Aquarium website.
