Right now, our gaze is fixed on Japan, as are our prayers. But the Middle East's changing landscape and what to expect from Iran, remain of enormous concern. Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Associate, Karim Sadjadpour, who worked as the chief Iran analyst at the International Crisis Group in Washington and Tehran, offers knowledgeable insight about Iran's current climate when he gives a talk at Westport Library on March 16.
During his four year Crisis Group stint, Sadjadpour spoke with many Iranians from all sectors. His work also included conducting extensive research that resulted in a definitive study of the country's leader. The Carnegie Endowment describes its importance and the study's scope: "There is perhaps no leader in the world more important to current world affairs but less known and understood than Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran. In a unique and timely study Carnegies Karim Sadjadpour presents an in-depth political profile of Khamenei based on a careful reading of three decades' worth of his writings and speeches."A regular guest on BBC TV and radio, CNN, National Public Radio, PBS NewsHour, and Al-Jazeera, Sadjadpour also frequently contributes pieces to the Economist, Washington Post, New York Times, International Herald Tribune, and Foreign Policy. On March 5, the Times published his Op Ed piece "Arabs Arise, Tehran Trembles." Hear Sadjadpour at Westport Library when he gives in-depth information about this volatile country and the impact of regional shifts. His talk is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit the Library's website
