Drop in for Sunday Discoveries

Kids who love to explore and do some sleuthing will rave about Stamford Museum & Nature Center's new drop-in program, Sunday Explorers. Llamas, trail treks, slimy salamanders and more mysteries are lined up for kids to investigate in a hands-on way.  With a new topic each Sunday, they'll have a stimulating -- and surprising -- discovery every time.  Activities run continuously from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.Beforehand, visit the Nature Center's Heckscher Farm, a working farm on ten acres with barns, a maple sugar house, an organic vegetable garden, open pastures, and many farm animals. Kids get to see how it's run and how the animals live and are cared for. Since the farm was established in 1955, it has expanded from a barn, a creamery, three cows and a few more features, to become a cluster of barns, including the historic 1750 Cheshire Barn, that house many heritage farm animal breeds. Children must be accompanied by an adult for Sunday Explorers. The program is free with museum admission which is $5-$10. For more information, visit the museum's website.
