Cheney and Myers Face Off

In spite of opposing views, political pundits Liz Cheney and Dee Dee Myers share a stage to discuss and dissect the upcoming election. On October 20, at 8 p.m. at the Quick Center, these Washington insiders with duelling ideologies take the gloves off to address the evening's topic, "The Obama Legacy at mid-term: Which direction are we headed?" They'll make their case and answer questions from three Fairfield University students, as well as audience members.Dee Dee Myers first registered on the public's radar as President Clinton's press secretary. In that role, she witnessed the 1993 signing of the Mideast peace accords, the passage of the president’s economic plan, international summit conferences and the controversies over healthcare and gays in the military. Her first post-White House gig was as a consultant on the NBC series "The West Wing." Regular appearances as a news analyst followed. Currently, she is a contributing editor at Vanity Fair magazine and has a regular role as a political commentator on NBC and MSNBC. Her motto, “Never take it personally, never lose your sense of humor,” has helped her forge friendships on both sides of the aisle.

As the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney inherited her political insider status, but she's also assembled her own list of accomplishments. She is an attorney who is regarded as highly knowledgeable about the Middle East. She was appointed Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East by President Bush. In that role she created programs to empower women and bring reform to the Arab World. She is currently collaborating with her father on his memoirs and frequently appears on FOX, CNN, MSNBC, and ABC. Myers and Cheney's appearance begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45.
