The epic clash, starring Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, debuts on the theater’s six-story screen on Friday, and will then play at 7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and at 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday, June 19.
“This may be your very last opportunity to enjoy the supersized Hollywood movie experience that only IMAX 70mm film projection can provide,” said Aquarium Marketing Director Chris Loynd. “As the film industry goes digital, such opportunities are fewer and farther between. This may be the last IMAX-format movie filmed and projected in the incredible 70mm film format.”
“Batman v Superman” director Zack Snyder shot several sequences with IMAX’s extremely high-resolution cameras to deliver greater scope and breathtaking image quality. The Maritime Aquarium's IMAX theater is the only theater in the area where the sequences filmed with IMAX cameras expand vertically to fill the entire six-story screen. All of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.
The first in an anticipated series of movies featuring DC Comics superheroes, “Batman v Superman” sets the two stars on a collision course fueled by their growing suspicions about each other. The film also boasts Oscar nominees Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Oscar winners Jeremy Irons as Alfred and Holly Hunter as Senator Finch.
