Author Introduces Zona

Zona is "The Dog Who Went to Main Street," the central character of Ridgefield resident Jane Turner's children's book about her adventuresome, wandering pooch. Pre-electric fence, Zona the Black Lab, indulged his wanderlust by heading off from his yard. He seemed to favor certain destinations for his sojourns and was generally found at one or another local business. On Dec. 18, at 2 p.m., Turner visits the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art during its Family Drop In day, taking place from noon to 5 p.m. She will read and talk about her book, which began as a bedtime story for her daughter, Cory.  In a November Ridgefield Press interview, Turner offered some thoughts on how the book came to be. “The rhythm of the repetitive question was ultimately a great sleep inducer for Cory. But the story is also a subtle cheer for the adventure to be found right around the corner on Main Street. Cory loved it so I figured every child would love it too.” Formerly a manager with Ralph Lauren, Turner now runs her own marketing company.

In addition to Turner's reading, Family Drop In offers parents and kids the opportunity to explore the museum and then work together on a craft project that picks up the book's theme. Admission is $4 and $7. For more information, visit the Museum's website.
