Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Hits its Mark

Described by The New York Times as "A breath of fresh air," Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Company stands out with its "musicality, athleticism, and technique-conscious delivery." A versatile and gifted troupe of dancers, it performs an eclectic repertoire of pieces by some of the world's foremost choreographers. Its program at Fairfield University's Quick Center on May 7 at 8 p.m. features Twyla Tharp's nine-part suite Sue's Leg, which is the final component of Tharp's '30s music trilogy. It is one of her three tributes to famous music artists, which the choreographer has affectionately called the "old guys." This piece was first recorded in the 1976 broadcast of Dance in America. Tickets for the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet's performance are $35-$45. For more information, visit The Quick Center's website.
