HomeServe pledged to donate toward the ALS Association for every employee that participated in the challenge. A total of 112 employees spanning the company’s offices in Connecticut, Tennessee, Massachusetts and New York accepted the challenge and raised $2,500.

At the company’s headquarters in Norwalk, HomeServe employees poured a bucket of cold water on CEO Tom Rusin.

HomeServe has challenged its colleagues at HomeServe HML in the United Kingdom to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

The ALS Association is dedicated to finding a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a life-threatening disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It’s associated with loss of voluntary movement, muscle atrophy and paralysis.

ALS often is referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease.
