Joe Passero, Klaff’s chairman and chief operating officer and longtime trustee of the museum, presented a donation of $24,229 in proceeds from the Klaff’s Jerry Levine Charity Golf Outing to the museum last week.
The donation is the largest corporate gift to the museum so far this year.
“We are thrilled to support this outstanding institution and national treasure,” Passero said in a statement. “Supporting our landmarks enriches and enhances our lives and reminds us of how important culture, history, art and architecture are to us and our community.”
Klaff's has donated more than $250,000 in the last 10 years to the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, according to museum Executive Director Susan Gilgore.
“The board of trustees and I are extremely grateful for Klaff’s continued support and the major impact it continues to have on this iconic landmark and treasured cultural and educational institution,” she said in the statement.
The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is a National Historic Landmark at 295 West Ave., Norwalk. Tours for the museum and exhibit are offered at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admittance is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for children. Children under 8 are admitted free.
Klaff's has locations in Norwalk, Danbury and Scarsdale, N.Y. It recently was named one of the best businesses in the state by Connecticut Magazine.
