Town Man Hired As New Police Chief In Newtown

NEWTOWN, Conn. -- James Viadero, who is a college professor as well as chief of Middlebury’s police department, has been hired as chief of the Newtown Police Department, according to a story on newstimes.com.

He has lived in Newtown for 23 years, served as one of its police commissioners for five, and helped in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on Dec. 14, 2012, newstimes.com said.

Brian Budd, vice chairman of the Newtown Police Commission, said Viadero is very familiar with Newtown, its police force and the challenges of the department, which is a huge benefit, newstimes.com said.
