Afghanistan War Vet Carlos Olivares Joins Ridgefield Police Force
A war veteran who served in Afghanistan has officially joined the ranks of Ridgefield’s finest, being sworn in as the local police department’s latest member. This week, the Ridgefield Police Department welcomed new Officer Carlos Olivares, who was sworn in during a ceremony at police headquarters, he is now set to train at the Connecticut Police Academy for more than six months before returning to protect residents in Ridgefield. Items Stolen From Two Vehicles In Ridgefield
Police are investigating a series of auto break-ins that saw several items stolen from a pair of cars in Ridgefield The Ridgefield Police Department issued an alert on Monday reminding residents to remove all valuables from their cars and to report any suspicious activity to police after two cars were entered and rummaged through overnight at some point on Sunday night or early Tuesday morning. The Ridgefield Police Department has renewed a call for info from anyone who can provide information that leads to the apprehension of a suspect who drew a series of swastikas throughout Ridgefield in January and prior months. A total of five swastikas were discovered at the Masonic Lodge and the Aldrich Museum, drawn in green marker in various sizes. RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The Anti-Defamation League announced that it is offering a $2,000 reward for information related to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for recent swastika graffiti located found in Ridgefield. Earlier this month, Ridgefield Police received reports of five swastikas discovered drawn outside the Masonic Lodge and the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield. Police: Man Who Used Counterfeit Bills Is Suspect In New Canaan Incident
UPDATED: RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield Police are investigating five separate incidents of someone using counterfeit $100 bills in town last week. Police said that the counterfeit bills were passed at businesses located on Main Street, Governor Street, Bailey Avenue and Catoonah Street. All the incidents took place on Friday, Jan. 5 between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. In all five incidents, the suspect bought an item valued at $30 or less, and paid using a counterfeit $100 bill, police said.
