Fairfield County Man Nabbed For Shooting Pepper Spray Gun In Security Guard's Face, Police Say
A man was arrested after allegedly shooting a security guard in the face with a pepper spray gun at a YMCA in Fairfield County.
Billy Pettway, of Bridgeport, was arrested around 11:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, at the State Street YMCA in Bridgeport.
According to Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport, officials originally were informed that the security guard was shot in the face with a BB gun, and police were immediately dispatched.

Fairfield County Man Critically Injured After Hit- Run Crash, Police Say
A man is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing a busy Fairfield County roadway.
The crash took place around 7:12 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, in the 1150 block of East Main Street in Bridgeport, Sergeant Gabe Meszaros said.
During the incident, a pedestrian identified as William Rodriguez Cruz, age 61, of Bridgeport, was crossing the street when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV traveling at a high rate of speed south on East Main Street. The vehicle then continued on East Main Street evading the crash, Meszaros said.

Two From Fairfield County Killed In Wrong-Way, Head-On Crash
Two young men were killed during a double-fatal wrong-way crash in Fairfield County.
Kyle Jackson, 28, of Stratford, and Tyler Field Stevens, 22, of Shelton, were killed around 2:19 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 6 on Route 25 in Bridgeport, said the Connecticut State Police.
According to police, Jackson was driving southbound on Route 25 in the right lane, while Stevens was traveling in the wrong direction on the roadway (northbound) in the southbound lane at the same time.
The two vehicles collided head-on just south of Exit 3, police said.

Speeding ATV Driver Injured After Hitting Turning Vehicle, Police Say
An ATV driver who was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed and slammed into a vehicle received non-life-threatening injuries.
Bridgeport Police were notified of the incident around 3:24 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, when the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a report of a crash at the intersection of North Avenue and Sylvan Avenue, said Scott Appleby, director of the city's emergency management division.
