The league is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through 12th-grade and consists of one practice per week and one game each Saturday from mid-November through mid-March, according to a news release from the group.
“The Y basketball league is all about participation and instilling a love of the game in our community’s youth," Aaron Zimmerman, sports director at the Y said in the release. "Each year we watch our kids grow through the season, both individually and as a part of his/her team.”
Clinics are featured for boys in kindergarten through first-grade and girls in kindergarten through second-grade, according to the release.
Boys’ leagues are separated by third-grade, fourth- grade, fifth- and sixth-grades, seventh- and eighth- grades, and high school and girls’ leagues are offered as third- and fourth-grades, fifth- and sixth-grades, and seventh- and eight grades, according to the release.
The participation fee for the 2013-14 basketball league is $230 for New Canaan YMCA members and $330 for non-members, according to the release, with registration ending on Oct. 31 and paperwork due Nov. 1.
