Alison Agatha Lawrence was taken into custody in Lake County earlier this week on a charge of aggravated animal cruelty, a third-degree felony, according to the Orlando Police Department.
Officers responded to a women’s restroom in the pre-security area of the airport on Dec. 16, 2024, after an employee found a dead animal, police said.
Following an investigation, authorities determined that Lawrence was at the airport with her dog, Tywinn, preparing for a trip to Colombia, according to an affidavit obtained by WESH, an NBC affiliate. When Lawrence failed to provide the necessary paperwork to bring the dog on board, she was told she could not take Tywinn with her, the affidavit states.
An airport employee later saw a woman, later identified as Lawrence, cleaning up a large amount of water and dog food on the floor of the bathroom, according to the affidavit. Shortly afterward, Lawrence left the restroom carrying only a purse and suitcase, the report states.
Authorities later found the dog’s body inside a restroom trash can, with Lawrence’s name on the pet’s tags, according to WESH.
Following an investigation, the Orlando Police Department issued a warrant for her arrest. She was taken into custody this week, police said.
