“Peggy,” as Jay is fondly known, has just been named 2015 Realtor Citizen of the Year by the New Canaan Board of Realtors.

Jay, the founder and owner of Real Estate Information Center, Inc., is a licensed broker in Connecticut, New York, and Florida.

As New Canaan’s only state licensed “certified general” appraiser, she assists the legal community, other real estate offices, and property owners with opinions on valueon residential, commercial, and industrial assignments, the board said.

The board noted that conservation easements are a new specialty in New Canaan, and many investors consult with Jay on the issue of feasibility analysis.

A teacher of licensing courses, Jay chairs the town’s Board of Assessment Appeals.

She has also served as the chairman and/or vice chairman of several Connecticut Association of Realtors committees.

Among Jay’s many community activities and titles are: membership chairman for Staying Put, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping seniors stay in their homes and communities; chairman of the New Canaan Beautification League; Commissioned Stephen Minister at First Presbyterian Church; and honorary chairman of the Annual Allan V. Jay Tennis Tournament.

In her spare time, Jay is a weekly visitor to New Canaan Inn and Waveny Care Center, both senior-living facilities, and also makes caring phone calls to the Staying Put members.

Finally, in announcing the honor, the board praised Jay for her “friendly welcoming nature” and said she “exemplifies professionalism, discretion and level-headedness.”
