Local residents are being asked the questions on a community survey for the New Canaan Police Department.
The comprehensive questionnaire grew out of a steering committee's initial effort to come up with a five-year comprehensive strategic plans, said a release.
The committee is comprised of officers of different ranks and experience levels. Its first goal was to create the strategic plan.
Steering committees provide the road map for all future actions and is the basis for all other related planning, with regards to personnel, budget and capital, the release explained.
This community survey gathers information about crime, safety and interactions with our department, said Chief of Police Leon Krolikowski.
"We are hopeful that many members of our community will take the survey," he said.
It will be used to guide the department in finding "innovative ways to better serve" the New Canaan community.
The plan is expected to be completed by next spring, Krolikowski said.
