Newly Renovated New Canaan Town Hall Holding Dedication

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The grand opening and dedication of the new New Canaan Town Hall on Main Street will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the event, on 77 Main St.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 1 p.m.: Town Band plays. Guests are offered free refreshments on the first floor. 
  • 1:45 p.m.: Ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of entrance to the original Town Hall. First Selectman Rob Mallozzi will cut the ribbon. 
  • 2:15 p.m.: Unveiling of the dedication plaque by Mallozzi and Town Hall Building Committee III Chairman Michael T. Avgerinos. 
  • 2:30 p.m.: Gathering in the new Town Hall meeting room on the second floor. Commemorative gifts will be presented to town officials and others who made the Town Hall project possible. Mallozzi will address the audience. 
  • 3 to 4 p.m.: Open house and tours for visitors. 
  • 4 p.m.: End of festivities. 

“New Canaan residents will not want to miss the chance to see the beautiful restoration that has been done of the original 1909 Town Hall and the modern addition that was designed with strict attention to the lines and flavors of the original,” Avgerinos said.
