NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New York based artist Alex Schweder is living in a transparent, inflatable house on the property of The Phillip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan.
On view Wednesday, Oct. 2, through Saturday, Oct. 12, "Rehearsal Space" is an inflatable see-through room that rises into the air via a scissor crane situated on top of a Chevrolet E-350 van. It comes with all the perks of modern living: a toilet, shower, sink, inflatable sofa bed and curtains.
Schweder is the first in an artist-in-residency program The Glass House is exploring.
While in residence, Schweder will live in the inflatable room and work on a manuscript about “performance architecture” in Philip Johnson’s library.
