The 5-year-old Ridgefield co-op for local artists is opening a location in New Canaan on Thursday.
"We are looking to tap into other artists' communities such as New Canaan, Darien, Norwalk, Greenwich and Stamford," said owner Morag Grassie, who is "very excited about the new location."
The new 850-square-foot shop in New Canaan will offer a lot of opportunities for displaying artists’ work, Grassie said. “It’s a long deep narrow store with lots of wall space."
It is in the former location of Hamptonite NY, a women's clothing store, which moved next door.
In the new location, "we are replicating what we did in Ridgefield," where Ally Bally Bee's high-end gallery-like storefront allows artists to display and sell jewelry, accessories, gifts and treats.
“We have 60 to 80 artists who live within a 30- to 40-mile radius of the Ridgefield store,” she said.
Ally Bally Bee is an artist co-op that carries a large assortment jewelry, linens, clothing and children’s toys. "We are trying to have a gift for every possible occasion and price-point," she said.
In the store, artists display their works and replenish their stock on a weekly to monthly basis with new products.
"We provide the infrastructure and merchandising for the items, and the artists pay a small fee to have their items here," she said.
The New Canaan location of Ally Bally Bee is at 134 Elm St. The Ridgefield location is at 45 Ethan Allen Highway.
