Police ID Boy, Age 16, Shot While Riding Bike On New Haven Street Police have identified a 16-year-old Connecticut boy who was shot and killed while riding his bike. Joshua Vazquez, of New Haven, was killed around 4:20 p.m., Monday, Dec. 19 on Valley Street between Mountain Road and Harper Avenue. Responding officers located Vazquez who had been shot. American Medical Response transported the victim to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Officer Scott Shumway, of the New Haven Police. The incident took place in New Haven on Thursday, June 23 or allegedly injuring and potentially paralyzing 36-year-old Richard Cox who was being transported in a police van on Sunday, June 19. Body Found On New Haven Roadway, Police Say Police are awaiting an autopsy report after a  woman's body was found on a Connecticut road near a wooded area. The woman was found around noon on Wednesday, March 16 in New Haven on the side of Springside Avenue. Police, who have not been identified the woman, are awaiting autopsy results on Thursday, March 17, before releasing additional information, said Officer Scott Shumway, of the New Haven Police. North Haven Teacher Assistant Nabbed With Handgun At School, Police Say A Connecticut teacher's assistant was arrested for allegedly having a handgun while in school. Sonnetta Powell, age 31, of North Haven, was arrested around noon on Friday, Jan. 14, by New Haven Police at the Katherine Brennan School. According to Officer Scott Shumway, of the New Haven Police, officers were called to the school located at 200 Wilmot Road regarding a teacher's assistant that was in possession of a handgun. New Haven Woman Struck, Killed By CT Transit Bus A Connecticut woman was hit and killed by a bus. The crash took place around 6:45 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, in New Haven. New Haven Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian being struck by a CT Transit bus, on Chapel Street, between Orange Street and Church Street.
