1 Killed After CT House Fire Breaks Out One person was killed and four people and three pets were displaced in an early morning house fire in Connecticut. The blaze broke out in Middlesex County around 4:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 1 on Pine. St., in Middletown. According to Middletown Fire Chief Jay Woron, firefighters arrived on the scene within four minutes and encountered heavy fire in the duplex structure with fire and the first floor and quickly moved to the second floor and the attic. Fire Breaks Out At Popular CT Pizzeria A popular Connecticut pizza restaurant and lounge was heavily damaged during a fire. It happened in Windham County at the Midway Restaurant in Ashford around 11:45 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20. First-arriving firefighters found flames at the back of the building and through the roof of the lounge area, said Ashford Fire Chief Paul Varga. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the blaze under control at 1:45 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 21, Varga said.
