Danbury Water Main Break Closes Wcsu Campuses Western Connecticut State University in Fairfield County has closed for the day because of a water main break. The break took place in Danbury on the Westside early Friday, Jan. 19.  According to college officials, both WestConn campuses -- Midtown on White Street and Westside off Lake Avenue Extension -- are closed.  Level 1 staff (essential workers) are required to report at their normal work times. Hit-Run: Beloved High School Teacher From CT Dies In Cape Cod Crash Authorities are investigating after a high school teacher in New York who lived in Connecticut was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Massachusetts, police said.  Fairfield County resident Jeffrey Richardson, age 59, of Brookfield, who taught music in Northern Westchester County at John Jay High School in Cross River, died on Tuesday, July 11 following the incident that happened the day before around 9:40 p.m. in the town of Wellfleet on Cape Cod.  According to Wellfleet Police, at the time of the incident, officers were called to Route 6, where Richardson was lying unresponsive …

Western Connecticut State University Announces New Nickname Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) in Danbury announced that following a multi-year discussion that included town halls and online balloting, the school will now identify as the “Wolves.” The Wolves nickname replaces “Colonial Chuck,” who reportedly raised concern for its representation of a violent period in American history by representing a minuteman from the Revolutionary War. Covid-19: These CT Testing Sites Don't Require An Appointment For those needing a COVID-19 test, Community Health Center is offering sites statewide that do not require an appointment.  In addition to not needing an appointment state officials said you do not have to be exhibiting symptoms to receive the tests.
