NY College Football Star Dies At 25, Week Before NFL Draft
A former college football standout in New York died at age 25, just a week before the NFL Draft. Amitral “AJ” Simon, a defensive lineman for the University at Albany, announced late last year that he was entering his name in the draft. "He was a tremendous young man and even better teammate throughout his time at UAlbany," the UAlbany football program said in a statement announcing his death on Wednesday, April 17. College Students In NY Driving Home For Thanksgiving Killed In Head-On Crash
Two New York college students who were heading home for Thanksgiving were killed in a fiery crash that left a third person with life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews in Columbia County were called at around 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, with reports of a serious crash on State Route 9H in the town Ghent, near the Columbia County Airport. When deputies arrived, they found one of the vehicles fully engulfed in flames, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said. Woman Killed In Crash In Region Remembered For 'Contagious Laughter'
A college student killed in a crash on I-87 is being remembered for her "contagious laughter." Saratoga County resident Katryn R. Fisher, of Ballston Spa, was age 22. The crash happened on the Northway stretch of I-87 at around 9:55 p.m. Saturday, May 28 on the northbound side in Albany County in the town of Colonie.
