Former HS QB In CT Among Three Sailors Who Died By Suicide, Report Says
Three US Navy sailors stationed on the USS George Washington in Virginia, including one from Connecticut, died by suicide within seven days of each other this month, The Washington Post reports.
Fairfield County native Xavier Sandor, age 19, of Shelton, was found unresponsive aboard the ship in Newport News on Friday, April 15, The Post says. Two other sailors on the ship reportedly died by suicide on April 9 and 10.
A fourth also died by suicide in 2021, the outlet says.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby addressed the deaths in a press conference this week.

A US Navy commander has been relieved of his duties for refusing to get a COVID-19 vaccine and refusing to be tested for the virus, Navy officials said, according to multiple reports.
Cmdr. Lucian Kins was fired as second in command of the USS Winston Churchill, a destroyer, by Navy Capt. Ken Anderson, commander of the destroyer, on Friday, Dec. 10, according to Stars and Stripes, the daily American military newspaper.

A U.S. Navy mechanic has admitted to charges that he sexually assaulted children - as young as 4 months old - and shared videos of his abuse online.
On Monday, Dec. 7, Randall Tilton, 31, of Groton, waived his right to be indicted and pled guilty to seven counts of production of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Connecticut.
Tilton is facing up to 210 years of imprisonment and the prosecuting attorney said she is going to advocate that Tilton get the full sentence for his crimes.
