Swimmer Goes Missing At CT State Park Police and dive teams are searching for a swimmer who was reported missing at a state park in Fairfield County. The effort to find the person began just before 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 14, at Pierrepont State Park in Ridgefield, after the Ridgefield Police Department received a call reporting they could not find the person they were swimming with. The missing person is a New Fairfield man in his 30s, Capt. Jeff Raines of the Ridgefield Police said. The man's identity has not been released. Missing CT Teen's Body Found In Water At Rhode Island Beach Police have identified a 15-year-old Connecticut teen whose body was recovered after disappearing while swimming at a Rhode Island beach. New London County resident Jaimer Martin Ico Gregorio, of the city of New London, was located on Sunday, July 30, in the ocean off Dunes Park Beach in Westerly, Rhode Island. Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella said Jamier went missing on Thursday, July 27, around 7 p.m. while swimming with family and friends. A pack of nearly two dozen sharks was reportedly spotted at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15 at Davis Park, a Fire Island beach off the coast of Long Island, causing concerns for lifeguards in the area. Officials announced that all fall sports will have seasons this year, including football, with certain COVID-19-related protocols put in place to help curtail the spread of the virus. Masks will be required for volleyball, swimming while outside the water, indoor cheerleading, and dance for athletes, coaches, and officials. Former Ridgefield High School standout Kieran Smith took third place in the 400-meter freestyle on Saturday, July 24. The 22-year-old Smith finished with a time of 3:43.94 to take the bronze medal.
