Community Mourns Death Of 'Compassionate' School Leader; Crash Under Investigation The community is mourning the loss of a "compassionate," "funny," and "responsive" area school leader while State Police are investigating the crash that killed him.  The accident happened on Friday, Nov. 27, around 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Kettletown and Southford Roads in Southbury. Thanksgiving Holiday Car Crashes Killed 7 People In Connecticut This Year Seven people were killed in fatal car accidents in Connecticut over Thanksgiving and the weekend. Thanksgiving time is one of the most dangerous times of the year to travel by car in the U.S., according to the National Safety Council. Across the nation, NCS estimates that 485 people died in car crashes this Thanksgiving holiday period. On Monday, Nov. 30, around 4 p.m., State Police identified another victim.
