Icy Roadways Lead To School Closures, Delayed Starts, Crashes Light freezing rain that began to fall in the pre-dawn hours on Wednesday, Jan. 5 has resulted in numerous crashes in the region as well as delayed school openings and some closures. Freezing rain is expected to change over to plain rain by 10 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said in a Special Weather Statement issued early Wednesday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory at 5 a.m. is due to expire at 10 a.m. Wednesday and at noon farther north. 21-Year-Old CT Woman Nabbed After Fleeing From Troopers, Police Say A 21-year-old Connecticut woman was apprehended after allegedly taking New York State Police troopers on a pursuit that began when she refused to stop for a traffic violation, authorities said. Emily Mackinnon-Dunbar, of Waterbury, was arrested on Thursday, March 25, after state police attempted to stop her vehicle on I-95 in the village of Mamaroneck for a traffic violation, said Trooper Tara McCormick. According to McCormick, instead of stopping, Mackinnon-Dunbar's vehicle sped up and continued northbound, where a brief pursuit ensued. Troopers terminated the pursuit for safety reasons, …
